JOHN ROWLAND, Association of British Cycling Coaches (Level 3) Head Coach and Events Organiser John Rowland has been an integral part of the National racing scene for the past 30 years. He has competed in World and European long course triathlon races, completing 10 Ironman distance events. He has qualified and competed at National Time Trial Championships at 10 and 25 mile distances. He has raced criterium, road, cyclocross and mountain bikes. There is very little within cycling that John has not turned his hand to and achieved highly in. None of this can be achieved without a combination of discipline, determination and cutting edge training know-how which John has in spades.  Johns other cycling passion is promoting participation. He understands that cycling can sometimes seem impenetrable to the new or returning rider, after all it is even difficult for cyclists to truly understand the leg shaving thing! A yearning to break down these boundaries led him to start the now incredibly successful Cyclesense Cycling Club in 2012. 2016 saw the inaugural Cyclesense Tadcaster Sportive, an intentionally inclusive sportive allowing riders of all abilities to experience the event on any bike at any speed. In conjunction with Selby Council and the Riverside School the aim of this event is to give everyone a great, well supported day on the bike. But also to promote cycling to the broader community with events such as balance bikes for kids and a family bike 'orienteering' challenge being added for 2017.    John takes this drive for inclusivity into his coaching. Although he has the pedigree and knowledge to coach at the highest level, he is encouraging of all abilities, even those turning the pedals for the very first time. He believes that coaching should not just be for the elite. A well structured, bespoke, goal orientated, time sensitive training plan written with the person in mind can benefit all.
